1)   Memphis M-Class, JL audio W-7, and MTX Jackhammers are very nice subs. The best sound clarity is the Memphis, while JL Audio packs a hard punch, and the Jackhammers really do some vibrating. Pair any of these with a JL Audio amp and you will rock. Remember, a lot of companies use crazy power handling ratings, but a reputable company like JL Audio or Memphis uses real life power handling ratings. - gnet_162000

2)   It's all personal preference. BUT you really get what you pay for when buying car audio. JL Audio in my opinion are pioneers when it comes to mobile audio fabrication. They produce subwoofers in ranges from W1, W3, W5, W6, and W7, being the most powerful. If you wanted a hard-hitting W7, you would most likely need a 3000 watt amp, and a more powerful battery and alternator. Not worth it. From sound clarity to powerful smash, you cannot go wrong if you have the money for JL Audio though. MTX packs a punch, but I wouldn't chose it if i also wanted sound control. Focal, Alpine, and Boston Acoustics are great mid-range brands. Alpine makes a Type-X that sounds awesome and impacts your chest. But I know that now-a-days people will pay anything for ridiculous brand name recognition. Don't go with Kicker Sony and PUNCH for brands, thats just my opinion. low quality. - Mark

5)   There's a ton of good companies and good products out there. It's up to which you think is best, but my list goes something like this: Diamond Audio (D9's/hex's), Resonant Engineering, Digital Designs, Pioneer Premier, Image Dynamics, T3 Audio (wait for their new line to come out), Focal, Beyma Car Audio, Boston Acoustics, JL Audio (the W7 is a SQ sub, not SPL like everyone tries to pretend it is. If you try it as a SPL sub, it will not give you the results you want) - Ryan

3)   Well out of your choices I would go with the CVX's. Reason being they are a step up from the CVR's and more reliable than the L5's. I've heard some stuff about the L5's having reliability issues. But don't just limit yourself to Kicker. Try looking at crutchfield.com. If you can spend L5 money then look at the Alpine Type R or (for a little more) the JL W6. Now, if you go and check out crutchfield, just use it as a reference and buy from a LEGIT ebay seller. Ex., list price for Alpine 1222D is $199. I got 2 for that price,new, off ebay.

2)   SonicElectronix's service is generally good and as you have already found out, their prices are excellent. If what you want is in stock, you do not require installation assistance, and you are within 2 days for "ground shipping", they are a good choice. But if you are 4 days or more distant by ground shipping, expect delays, and expect the cost to be significantly higher.



The only really bad reviews for SonicElectronix that I've seen on the car audio sites usually involved an out of stock product or something that needed returned. In several such reviews, the service was definitely not on a par with Crutchfield, Amazon, or even some eBay retail stores.



In some cases, and on some specific products, the Crutchfield price is actually lower. For example, the Alpine SWE-1043 subs (10" Type E entry level) are priced on SonicElectronix at $59.99 (shipping to UPS zone 3 is $20.88). The Crutchfield price is $129.99. So at first glance it would appear that the SonicElectronix price is way better. And if you are just buying one, it's true. However, the Crutchfield price is "buy one get one free", so the cost for a pair of subs is about the same (less shipping). At Crutchfield, any order for $129 or more that includes car audio products, ships for free. So the pair of 10" Type E's at Crutchfield cost you $129.99. i have 2 12'' L7 kicker sub woofers wired at 4 ohm will the zx 1000.1 power both of them?...

1)   yes it will but u might not get all u bass u can with just that amp - Jovon

2)   If you have them in a ported box they will sound OK



That really is the wrong amp for those subs.



You probably know you need 1500 rms to get the most out of those subs. and the zx1000 will only give you 500rms @ 4ohms.



I would look for a 1ohm stable amp.

What amplifier should I use for a JL Audio Stealthbox?...  I have a 2002 Jetta with aftermarket speakers and an expensive aftermarket head unit. I was thinking about getting a JL Audio Stealthbox for my car, which would place a 10" W3 underneath my trunk where the spare tire goes. I know the box and woofer goes for $750 but I wanna put a whole price together so Would anybody know which JL Audio mono amp I should use? money is not an option, I just want to buy whatever will bring out the best in the enclosure and sub. If you have no idea what your talking about, please don't tell me to get a bazooka tube and save money. I know what I want, I just want to know how to get the best of it. Thanks!

2)   The JL Audio 10W3v3 is a single voice coil sub that is available with either 2 ohm or 4 ohm voice coil. The W3 can handle 500 watts RMS.



An ideal match for the 2 ohm version would be the JL J2 500.1. It outputs 500 watts into 2 ohms.

For the 4 ohm version, I'd recommend the J2 1000.1 which is rated for 400 watts RMS into 4 ohms. Actually, you could use it with the 2 ohm sub too. It outputs 700 watts into 2 ohms and having a little "headroom" is not a bad thing.
